Welcome to the 2012 Barcelona International Conference on Advances in Statistics (BAS2012)!
We are proud to announce the 3rd edition of the BAS.
The 2012 Barcelona International Conference on Advances in Statistics is a scientific event whose previous editions were held in 2003 and 2008 under the name of Barcelona Asymptotic Statistics. This time we would like to enlarge the scope of the conference and to focus not only on theoretical aspects of modern statistics, but also - and mainly - on the variety of practical applications of statistical methods to biomedicine, information technologies, signal processing, and elsewhere. On the other hand, our idea was to maintain the conference acronym “BAS”. From now on, it will mean Barcelona Advances in Statistics.
The conference aims at promoting research in applied statistics by providing an excellent opportunity to explore new directions and perspectives in methodological research, development of statistical software and technical applications. Communications based on R or SAS software applications are specially welcome and will be arranged in a special session. The BAS conference is called to be a meeting place of applied statisticians and researchers from other fields who are interested in statistics. We would like to bring together worldwide-known experts and researchers who are at the beginning of their professional career. This is why we will offer a limited number of grants for young statisticians, especially from countries with less favorable economic situation, in order to help their participation in the BAS conference.
This event is organized by Servei d'Estadística Aplicada (UAB) and Universitat de Vic.
We are happy that conference activities will take place at one of the best centers specialized in dissemination of scientific ideas among people of all ages and cultures. This is the Cosmocaixa Barcelona where BAS2012 will take place on June 18-22, 2012.
We encourage all of you to come to attend BAS2012.
Looking forward to seeing you in Barcelona,
Vladimir Zaiats, BAS2012 Coordinator.
