Introduction to Social Network Analysis
Instructor: Thomas Friemel (University of Bremen, Germany)
This introduction to SNA requires no prior knowledge. It provides answers to basic questions as what network analysis is (definition), where it comes from (historical development), and why it is of increasing importance to most scientific disciplines and todays life (relevance). The introduction to basic terms and key concepts provides an insight into different applications and central research questions. Various techniques of data collection, data storage, and simple network measures are presented. Finally a brief overview on available computer programs will illustrate which programs are suitable for which kind of data and analysis.
